Migraine is a term given to certain type of headaches associated with headache at regular intervals throughout the day .
It is also associated with photophobia (fear from light), sleep disruption, and depression.
The exact cause of this disease has not been found out yet the contributing factors are excess load of work, smoking , busy life style aggravates it. It usually begins in the second decade of life and especially in professional persons. It is found to affect women more than men.
The frequency of attacks is extremely variable.They may occur at frequent intervals over a period of years or on only a few occasions during the life time.
The main symptoms of this disease are lethargy and lack of interest in any work before headache is seen. Visual disturbances are also experienced. Other less common symptoms are vertigo, confusion, facial weakness. At the time of headache the patient may appear extremely ill. The face is usually pale , sweaty. The patient may appear irritable and fatigued and his memory and concentration are impaired. Vomiting and anorexia may also occur.
Painful and prolonged contraction of head and neck muscles is found in some patients.Consultation to a doctor is must. Patient should try to live a stress free life. He should include exercise and meditation in his life.
